What you will learn

At the end of the course participants will be able to:

  1. Recognize and describe the key components of the Doric order, including column proportions, capital details, and entablature elements, and understand their role within classical architecture.
  2. Develop fundamental freehand sketching skills to accurately observe and record Doric architectural features, enhancing confidence in visual communication and architectural notation.
  3. Explore the principles of classical design through sketching, and begin to understand how these inform proportion, symmetry, and hierarchy in both historic and modern design contexts.
  4. Engage with historic architecture through observation and sketching, strengthening spatial understanding and analytical thinking as tools for early-career design development
