Join the 黑料头条 for a look at the enduring art of plaster through the lens of a premier French traditional atelier. This lecture will explore the history and evolution of plaster craftsmanship—from its classical roots in grand historic interiors to its continued relevance in today鈥檚 most refined architectural and design projects.
The presentation will examine the history of plaster mastery, tracing its development across centuries and its role in shaping architectural language. We will take an inside look at the traditional techniques and materials that define the craft, with a focus on the handwork and precision behind each surface. As part of our examination of plaster, we will look behind the scenes at a showcase of French projects including celebrated recent restorations at Versailles and the H么tel de la Marine, as well as new work for LVMH boutiques and the H么tel George V that illustrate how this heritage skill continues to elevate both classical and modern spaces.
Pierre-Antoine Michel transitioned into the world of the Decorative Arts, after beginning his career in consulting, where he has elevated the reputation and reach of Atelier Louis Del Boca, both in France and abroad.
He now leads a renowned Haute Decoration workshop of 80 professionals—plaster artisans, stucco specialists, decorative painters, and a full design and project management team.
A true orchestrator of this collective expertise, he ensures that each craftsperson is supported and empowered to focus on their m茅tier, while also securing the company鈥檚 growth and expanding its international presence, notably through a showroom in New York.
Deeply committed to transmission, he trains apprentices from prestigious schools and plays a key role in preserving rare techniques such as stucco work.
Atelier Louis Del Boca proudly carries the 鈥淟iving Heritage Company鈥 label, blending historic savoir-faire with a bold vision for the future of decorative arts.
This lecture is presented as part of a Salon Series and as part of The Fran莽oise and Andrew Skurman Lecture Series on Classical French Architecture.
